FSIBL, MTBL win in Bankers Championship Trophy

The fifth day of the Bankers Championship Trophy 2020, sponsored by country’s largest business conglomerate Bashundhara Group started with NRB Bank Ltd facing First Security Islami Bank Limited at City Club Play ground at Pallabi in Mirpur in the capital on Friday.

After winning the toss, NRB Bank chose to bat first. NRB Bank could not maintain their batsmen as their wickets keep falling in regular intervals. They could manage to score 145 runs and losing 8 wickets at the end of their 20 over innings. Shumon from NRB scored 46 runs from 42 balls accompanied with Apurba who scored 39 off 24 balls. Azad from FSIBL took 3 wickets for 32 runs.

In reply, FSIBL reached their target comfortably with 7 wickets in hand with more than 2 overs remaining. Saddam from FSIBL who was also the Man of the Match scored 49 runs in just 27 balls with the support of Imran, who scored 41 runs.

In the second match of the day, MTBL faced off against SBAC Bank which saw them win by a margin of 57 runs. The match never seemed to be in SBACs favour even though they won the toss and send MTBL to bat because MTBL scored a massive 200 runs off their allotted 20 overs. Russell was the difference maker scoring a massive 123 runs off 59 deliveries supported by Debashish who scored 44 from 41 balls. His century was the first in the BCT 2020.

In response, SBAC started well but they kept loosing wickets and could only manage to post 143 runs on their scoreboard for 9 wickets. Nizam has a good knock of 62 runs off 40 balls. But without any support from the other end and some excellent bowling by Neeyamur (5/19), SBAC could only manage so much. Russell was the Man of the Match for his tremendous century.
