Kings to face Anwara today

Bashundhara Kings will face off Begum Anwara Sporting Club in the opening match of 3rd Women’s Football League 2019-20 at Bir Shrestha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the capital today.

Total of seven teams are going to take part in the double-league basis meet. The other five teams are: Nasrin Sporting Club, Jamalpur Kacharipara Akadas, FC Uttar Bongo, Kumilla United and Spartan MK Gallactico Sylhet FC.

On Sunday, Kumilla United will face Jamalpur Kacharipara Akadas at 12:00pm and Nasrin Sporting Club will take on Spartan MK Gallactico Sylhet FC at 03:00pm, both at the same venue.

The champions will be awarded two lakh taka and a gold-plated trophy while the runners-up will get one lakh taka. Besides, the teams will get participation money of two lakh taka each from the sponsors Tricotex Pvt Ltd.

Ahead of the league, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) inked a 3-year deal with the title sponsors Tricotex Pvt Ltd and strategic partners Cholo Kheli Trust in a signing ceremony at BFF House in the capital on Friday.

BFF Women’s Football Committee Chairman Mahfuza Akhter Kiron, BFF General Secretary Md Abu Nayeem Shohag, Tricotex Representative and Sher-e-Bangla National Foundation Chairman AK Faiyazul Huq, Cholo Kheli Trust Chairman and Founder Trustee Ashique Rahman, Cholo Kheli Trust General Secretary Majedul Islam were present on the occasion.

Earlier, the league was scheduled to be held with the participation of eight teams, but BFF excluded Shopnochura and Akelpur Football Academy of Sylhet from the league due to internal conflicts.

The first phase of booter’s registration held from January 11 to 26 but BFF reopened the window for five days from February 8 to 12.

Kings signed 23 booters including 19 national players to form a strong team for the Women’s Football League 2020.
