‘16th Debate, Public Speaking Workshop’ kicks off at CU

The month-long ‘16th Debate and Public Speaking Workshop’ kicked off at Chittagong University (CU) on Tuesday.

Chittagong University Debating Society (CUDS) organised the biggest debate workshop of the country being participated by thousands of students of the university. Law faculty Dean and CUDS Moderator Professor Abu Noman inaugurate the workshop as the chief guest at Social Science faculty auditorium.

English department Professor and Music department Chairman Sukanta Bhattacharya conducted a special class on pronunciation and communication at the beginning. Training on English and Bengali debates and public speaking will be provided by the renowned teachers of the university and experienced debaters.

The participants were provided with various debate related supplementary materials.

Law department Professor Jakir Hossain, Philosophy department Associate Professor Masum Ahmed, ‘Ten Minute School’ Chief Director and BRAC Education Programme Deputy Manager Sakib Bin Rashid, Bangladesh Debate Federation Joint Secretary Jihad Al Mehedi and Bangladesh Debate Council Vice President Asif Mehedi Adi will attend different sessions of the workshop as trainers.

The closing ceremony of the programme will be held on March 25 and the participants will be given certificates, said the organisers.

Country’s leading English daily the ‘daily sun,’ Kaler Kantho, Somoy TV and Chattogram University Journalists Association are the media partners of the mega event.

The 16th version of the workshop will be held in seven sessions in Bengali and English.
