Govt to back entrepreneurs

CHATTOGRAM: Agriculture Minister Dr Md Abdur Razzaque visited the first ever integrated cashew nut factory in the city’s Patenga area on Sunday morning.

Terming the initiative as good one, he observed that the experience can be used in development of the agricultural sector. 

The minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has a target to build the youths as entrepreneur along with providing them with jobs.

“If necessary facilities can be provided to them, we will be able to make hundreds of such entrepreneurs,” he said.

Shakil Ahmed, the youth behind the cashew nut factory, shared his experiences of turning into a successful entrepreneur. He informed that his team exported around 30 tonnes of cashew nuts to India in 2010.

He was able to establish the first integrated cashew nut factory of the country in 2016.

Agriculture Secretary Md Nasiruzzaman assured the entrepreneurs of this field of providing with various helps from the ministry.

Earlier, the minister planted a cashew nut sapling at the factory premise.
