Meeting on Bangabandhu’s birth centenary today in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR: District Awami League (AL) is set to hold a meeting today to mark the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a befitting manner.

District AL leaders have already completed all formalities to hold the meeting on Jamalpur Zila School ground in the town.

President of district AL Advocate Md Baki Billah, at a press conference at its party office in Bakultola on Thursday night, said the meeting venue was selected on historical Zila school ground where Bangabandhu and subsequently Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina addressed, reports BSS.

He said AL’s General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader will attend the meeting as the chief guest.

Agriculture Minister Dr. Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, AL Presidium Members Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni, Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, State Minister for Information Dr Md Murad Hassan, Organizing Secretaries Ahmad Hossain, BM Mozammel Haque, Abu Syed Al-Mahmud Swapan, Mirza Azam, and Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel, Cultural Affairs Secretary Ashim Kumar Ukil, Education and Human Resources Affairs Secretary Begum Shamsunnahar Chapa, Executive Members Marufa Akhtar Popy, Abul Kalam Azad, MP, Md Faridul Haque Khan Dulal, MP, Engineer Md Mojaffar Hossain, MP and Hosne Ara, MP, will attend the meeting as special guests.

District AL General Secretary Faruk Ahammad Chowdhury, Jamalpur Municipality Mayor Mirza Sakhawatul Alam Moni and District Al Vice-President Syed Atiqur Rahman Sana spoke at the press conference.
