DUDS become champion, IIUCDC runner-up

Dhaka University Debating Society (DUDS) and International Islamic University Chittagong Debtors Community (IIUCDC) became champion and runner up in the ‘National Debate Competition’ held in Chattogram.

Final round of the three-day event organised by the private East Delta University Debating Society (EDUDS) held on the EDU campus on Saturday.

The university Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Sekandar Khan was the chief guest at the prize giving ceremony where internationally renowned debater and media personality Dr Abdun Noor Tusher was present as the guest of honour. The VC in his speech said that practice of debate enlightens people.  The acquired knowledge and way of thinking also shine life of them, he observed.

Addressing the programme, Dr Abdun Noor termed time as the precious thing in the world and laid emphasis on proper utilisation of it to leave something for the globe.

The renowned debater also said that the EDU has been producing enlightened students who are growing as resource for this world.

EDU Treasurer Professor Shams-Ud-Doha presided over the prize giving ceremony while Registrar Sajal Kanti Barua, Development and Planning Director Shafayet Kabir Chowdhury, Associate Dean of Liberal Arts Shahidul Islam Chowdhury, Student Affairs Director ATM Mahmudur Rahman and Proctor Ananya Nandi were present among others.

Kishwan Group, Drishty Chittagong and Ranks FC Properties assisted the EDU in organising the programme. A total o 28 universities of the country participated in the contest. DUDS's Ishty was adjudged as the debater of the final while CUDS's Nakib and CHUETDS's Radi of the competition.
