Eight vending machines of sanitary napkin will be installed at different places on the Chittagong University (CU) campus to help the female students to get it easily and at cheaper rate.

A young entrepreneur Tausif Ahmed, who is also a MBA student of the university, has come up with the initiative.

He said this idea of him was selected at the ‘LG Ambassador Programme,’ a community development initiative, last year.

The company funded him with Tk 4 lakh to install eight vending machines at the university, he said.

“The machines have already been imported from India and we are hopeful to get them installed by this week,” said Tausif.

The vending machines will be placed at six departments, one institute and one female dormitory, he said.

The students will be able to collect the napkin in exchange of a coin of Tk 5.

The item will be available free of cost for the first couple of weeks, said the entrepreneur.
