BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s family may submit special application to the government for her release from jail.

“We are thinking that we will apply for her (Khaleda Zia’s) release from jail. But we didn’t finalise the matter yet. Her health condition has deteriorated. If such situation continues, we can’t take her alive to residence,” Khaleda Zia’s sister Selima Islam said.

She made the statement while talking to reporters after visiting Khaleda Zia at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the capital on Friday. Some members of Khaleda Zia’s family met her in the hospital.

Selima Islam further said Khaleda Zia’s health condition is now worst while she is suffering from vomiting, fever and her left hand also has become bent.

“She will have to be taken to another hospital. Her better treatment is not possible here (BSMMU),” she said.

Replying to a question, she further said the treatment of the BSMMU physicians is not working. “Her condition is deteriorating every day. We want her better treatment in a specialized hospital. Better treatment will have to be arranged after her release,” Selima said.

Khaleda Zia’s sister also said she has sought blessing from the countrymen.

Five family members of the BNP chief, including her sister Selima Islam, arrived at the hospital at around 2:30pm.

Besides Selima Islam, younger brother Shamim Iskander, his wife Kaniz Iskander and their son Avik Iskander and late Sayeed Iskander’s wife Nasrin Iskander, visited Khaleda Zia.
