CHATTOGRAM: A total of nine shops were gutted in a fire in the city’s Fisheryghat area on Thursday.

Sources in the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) department said a fire broke out from electric short-circuit at a market in the Old Fisheryghat area at around 6:00am.

It spread fast engulfing eight other adjoining tin-roofed shops of tea, computer, wood and clothe at that time. On information, four fire fighting units rushed to the spot and doused the fire after around two hours’ effort, he said.
