Former driver Nazmul of freedom fighter Dr Sarwar Ali’s wife carried out the attack in his residence because of ‘bad behaviour’.

Chief of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) DIG Banaj Kumar Majumder said this at a press briefing at Dhanmondi in the capital on Thursday.

“Because of ‘bad behaviour’ of the family members, former driver Nazmul carries out the attack to commit robbery,” he said.  Banaj Kumar said, “The driver claimed the family members of the Sarwar did not treat him well. Later, he left the job being angry.”

After primarily interrogating Nazmul and three others accused of the case filed for attempting to murder Dr Sarwer Ali, a trustee of the Liberation War Museum and his family members, the PIB chief said this.

On Wednesday noon, a team of the PBI held Nazmul, his cousin Sheikh Rony, neighbour Faisal and Monir Hossain from Uttara area in the capital.

However, Nazmul and other arrested men had no previous criminal records, Banaj Kumar also said.

On January 5, assailants number two swooped on Sarwar Ali and his wife on the third floor of their Uttara residence in the capital.
