JUTA polls to be held Jan 27

The election to the 15-member executive committee of Jahangirnagar University Teachers’ Association (JUTA) for session 2020 will be held on January 27.

Election Commissioner Prof Dr AKM Abul Kalam said the election will begin at 9:00am and continue till 3:30pm at the Teachers’ Club of the university on the day.

Meanwhile, the election commission on Monday revealed the final list of candidates for the polls.

Prof AA Mamun of Physics Department and Prof Md Sohel Rana of Pharmacy Department will contest for the president post while Prof Dr Md Alamgir Kabir of Statistics Department and Prof Md Amzad Hossen of Economics Department for the general secretary post.

Besides, Prof Dr Sayed Hafijur Rahman and Prof Md Hasibur Rahman will vie for the vice-president post where Associate Prof Dr Risala Tasin Khan and Associate Prof Burhan Uddin for joint secretary post as well as Prof Dr Md Mutahar Hossen and Prof Saeed Ferdous for treasurer post.
