ACC probing wealth of 200 casino kingpins

Anti-Corruption Com-mission (ACC) is investigating 200 people’s wealth amassed illegally through casino business.

“We are not carrying out drive against casino business but investigating against the people who amassed wealth through the illegal casino business,” said ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmood on Monday

“We won’t spare anybody who amassed illegal wealth and embezzled public money.” 

ACC chief came up with the remarks while speaking at a press briefing after inauguration of the anti-graft National Debate Competition’ at the commission’s Segunbagicha headquarters in the capital.

When asked about the graft allegations by different Personal Assistant (PA), and Assistant Personal Secretary (APS) and Personal Secretary (PS), ACC chairman said “We are investigating the graft allegation against them and if any PA, APS or PS will give statement against their bosses over corruption, then we will also take action against their bosses.”

When asked about the silence over the graft allegation against Dhaka South City Corporation mayor Sayeed Khokon, he said “We are not silent, wait and see.”

The ACC chief said the commission would conduct investigations against all corrupt people whatever they will be small or big fish. The legal action would be taken against them, whoever they are and no one will be spared.

The ACC launched a National Debate Competition with the participation of the students of class VI to X in 26,000 educational institutions to create awareness among students about the negative effects of corruption.

Journalist Shykh Seraj, ACC commissioner AFM Aminul Islam also spoke on the occasion.
