International conference on Film, Media and Journalism Studies begins at DU

The 1st 3-day international conference on ‘Film, Media and Journalism Studies’ began at Professor Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury auditorium of Dhaka University (DU) on Sunday. DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the conference as chief guest. DU Television, Film and Photography Department and American International University Bangladesh have jointly organised the international conference marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Presided over by Chairperson of DU Television, Film and Photography Department Habiba Rahman the inaugural function was addressed by BIMSTEC Secretary General Ambassador Shahidul Islam and Dean of Social Sciences Faculty Professor Dr. Sadeka Halim as special guests. The inaugural function was also addressed, among others, by convener of the conference organising committee Prof. Dr. AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan.          

Member countries of Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) - Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal and Bhutan have been participating at this conference.
