3 lives lost on road

CHATTOGRAM: Three persons were killed and four others injured in a road accident on Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway at Patiya upazila in the district on Friday.

  The deceased were identified as Omar Faruk, 40, son of late Kurban Ali hailing from Double-mooring area in Chattogram city, Jahid Hossain, 41, son of Sajjat Hossain, and his wife Nargis Sultana, 30, of Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazar.  Source said two buses of Shyamoli Paribahan and Bismillah Paribahan collided head-on in Shantir Hat under the upazila at around 11:00am.

The accident left seven passengers of the buses injured critically.

 The injured were sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) and private Park View Hospital where doctors declared Faruk, Jahid and Nargis dead, said ASI Alauddin Talukder of the CMCH police outpost.

The injured persons were undergoing treatment at the hospitals, he said.
