Law enforcers could not make any progress in investigation into two separate murder incidents committed in the same way on Kuril Flyover at Vatara and Khilkhet in the capital on December 10 last year and January 4 in the running year.

The deceased identified as Akhter Hossain and Monir Hossain were suffocated to death with towels (gamsas).

Members of Vatara Police Station recovered the body of Akhter, a gold technician by profession, from the flyover at around 2:30am on December 10.

Muktaruzzaman, Officer-in-Charge of the police station, said they have yet to make any progress in the murder as there was no CCTV camera in the flyover and the lights remained off.

Police have already talked to the family members of the victim and tried to know whether Akhter had personal enmity towards anybody.

“We hope we will be able to dig out the mystery behind the murder and arrest the killers,” he added.

The body of Monir, a tailor by profession, was recovered from the same flyover on January 4.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khilkhet Police Station Borhan Uddin said police were trying to unearth the mystery of the killing.

Shahnaj Parvin Happy, wife of Monir, said her husband had no personal enmity towards anyone.

“I cannot guess who killed my husband,” he said.
