Four people were killed in two separate road accidents in the capital’s Uttara and Jatrabari areas on Friday.

A bus hit a motorcycle in front of Uttara Purbo Police Station around 2:00pm, killing two motorbike riders.

The identities of the deceased could not be known yet. The accident took place as the bus hit the motorcycle from behind, leaving its two riders critically injured, said Al Arafat, sub-inspector of Uttara Purbo Police Station.

Later, the injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared them dead, he added.

In another incident, two people were killed as a bus hit them in the city’s Jatrabari area. The deceased were identified as Anwar Hossain, 40, and his nephew Salahuddin, 20, residents of Jatrabari, police said.

A speeding bus of Anabil Paribahan hit Anwar and Salauddin in Saddam Market area while they were crossing a road around 11:30pm on Thursday, leaving them critically injured, said Ahmed Nawajis, sub-inspector of Jatrabari Police Station.

They were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared them dead around 1:00am on Friday, the police official said.

Shaheda Begum, wife of deceased Anwar, said that Anwar, father of two children, and Salahuddin were involved in water business.

“We want justice for them,” she added.
