Opposition BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Monday said the initiative of vote robbery under the supervision of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) was noticed in the by-election to Chattragram-8 constituency.

“Sincere initiative of grand vote dacoity under the supervision of CEC KM Nurul Huda has been witnessed in the by-election. Nurul Huda completed arrangement of looting votes in the by-polls,” he said.

The BNP leader made the statement while addressing a press briefing of the party at its central office in the capital’s Nayapaltan on Monday.

“He (CEC Nurul Huda) is not only the enemy of fair election, but also the democracy. He behaved like enemy with the opposition parties, including the BNP. Fair election under him is not believable,” he added.

Rizvi alleged that the ruling party men threatened leaders, activists and supporters of the BNP before the day of the election and obstructed them going polling centers.

He said among 170 polling centers of the Chattragram-8 by-polls, 120 centers were occupied by the ruling party men in the morning and all the centers by 11:00am.

“The ruling party terrorists also driven away agents of the BNP candidate from the polling centers,” the BNP leader added.
