Academics in a programme urged the authorities concerned for ensuring world-class education system at the college level educational institutions in the country with a view to sustain in competition in developing world.
If the college level education is not modernised, the higher education of the country will not achieved at the desired level in the era of globalisation, they said. The government should give priority in higher education and increase budgetary allocation in this sector, they added.The speakers were addressing at a meeting of Expert Committee for Development of Science, Technology and ICT in formulating strategic plan for education at college level under College Education Development Project (CEDP) at University Grants Commission (UGC) in the capital.
In their speech, the educationists also emphasised on formulation of a particular strategic plan for development of college education.
Among others, Professor Dr Munaj Ahmed Noor, Vice-Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University, Professor Dr Subrata Kumar Adittaya, Professor Dr Md Mahbubul Alam Joarder, Professor Dr Hasina Khan, Professor Dr Lafifa Jamal of Dhaka University, Professor Dr Mohammad Kaikobad, Professor Dr Silia Shahnaj of BUET, Professor Dr Md Hanif Siddiqui of Chittagong University and AKM Mukhlesur Rahman, Project Director of CEDP also spoke at the event.
