ULAN BATOR: Mongolia’s industrial output expanded 12.8 percent year-on-year from January to November, data released by the country’s National Statistics Office (NSO) showed Friday.

The industrial output amounted to 16.0 trillion Mongolian tugriks (5.8 billion U.S. dollars) during the period, said the NSO, reports Xinhua.

The growth was mainly attributed to a significant increase in the output of main mining and extractive products.

The volume of coal production rose by 38.1 percent, while the production of other mining products increased by 12.6 percent from a year ago, it said.

Mining is one of the main economic sectors of the inland Asian country.
