Minister visits Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant Project sites

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Tazul Islam on Wednesday visited the Dasherkandi Sewage Development Plant Project sites at Rampura and Dasherkani areas under Khilgaon thana in the capital and expressed his satisfaction over the progress of the construction work.

Briefing the reporters, the minister said, “Dasherkandi sewage treatment plant project was taken to solve pure water problem of city dwellers. The accumulated sewage from different areas like Badda, Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara, Farmgate, Niketon, Sukrabad areas will be lifted and treated in this plant.”

Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority undertook the project at cost of Tk 3317 crore to treat the sewerage water of major parts of the capital that has now been falling Balu River through Hatirjheel project. Started in July 2015, the project is supposed to be end in December 2109.

However, the project director Engineer Md Mohosain Ali Miah said, “The project has achieved its 47 percent of physical progress while 33 percent of financial progress and the supervision of Hydro china Corporation are implementing now.” The deadline of the project has been extended to June 2022, the project director said.
