Myanmar to invite Bangladesh to see Rohingya settlement area

Bangladesh Army Chief General Aziz Ahmed discussed Rohingya crisis as well as other concerns of Bangladesh with his Myanmar counterpart Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, a report said on Tuesday.

Gen. Ahmed, who is now on a visit to Myanmar, raised Bangladesh’s concerns involving Rohingays to Min Aung Hlaing and informed him that Rohingyas are reluctant to go back home, said a report published in Bangla Tribune online portal.

He also said landmines planted on Myanmar border are a matter of grave concern along with violations of Bangladesh’s air space by Myanmar helicopters and drones.

Min Aung Hlaing assured him of looking into matter and said Bangladesh Foreign Minister, the Asian Humanitarian Emergency Response Team and a Rohingya representative will soon be invited to see for themselves the Rhinngya settlement area. 

Both sides agreed not to allow their soils to be used by insurgents.
