Justice (retd) Mohammad Mamtaj Uddin Ahmed has been reappointed as the chairman of Bangladesh Press Council (BPC) for the next one year.
A notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday said that the government reappointed him for the next one year, said a press releaseFollowing the reappointment, Justice Muhammad Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed took the charge of chairman of the BPC on Tuesday.
Earlier, the government appointed Bangladesh Supreme court’s appellate division former Justice Muhammad Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed as a chairman of the BPC on August 6, 2014 for three years.
After end of his three years tenure, the government on August 21, 2017, reappointed him for two more years as the chairman of the BPC.
Justice Muhammad Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed played a good role in the last five years as a chairman of the BPC to protect the freedom of press and development of journalism.
