‘Protect human rights for ensuring dignified life’

RAJSHAHI: Speakers at a discussion on Tuesday said concerted efforts of all government and non-government agencies has become crucial to protect human rights for ensuring dignified life of the people.

The people of all levels should raise their voices for establishing their equal rights in the society, they told the discussion here, reports BSS.

Divisional and District Administrations jointly organised the discussion at the office premises of Divisional Commissioner in observance of the International Human Rights Day-2019.

Various government and non-government organisations and educational institutions joined the programme.

Commissioner-in-Charge of Rajshahi division Dr Abdul Mannan addressed the discussion as chief guest while Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque was in the chair.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Shariful Islam, Additional District Magistrate Abu Aslam, Brac District Coordinator Jahedul Islam and President of Diner Alo Hijra Society Mohona also spoke.

Dr Abdul Mannan said establishing transparency and accountability in every sphere of life could be an effective means of ensuring human rights to all.

He said the human rights situation should be improved collectively and the young generation can play a vital role in this regard.

Earlier on, more than 200 people comprising students, members of the civil society, development and cultural activists and social leaders joined the rally that initiated from the collectorate building premises and ended at the meeting after parading some thoroughfares.
