Army chief to leave for Myanmar today

Chief of Army Staff (CAS) General Aziz Ahmed will leave Dhaka today on a four-day official visit to Myanmar.

During the visit, the Army Chief will meet Myanmar’s deputy commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces and Army Chief Vice Senior General Soe Win.

During the meeting, they will discuss various issues including -- developing friendly relations, exchanging training, goodwill visits, mutual cooperation between the two countries’ military and forcibly displaced Myanmar citizens return from Bangladesh.

Besides, there may also be discussed about the construction of roads in the border areas and land mines and IEDs (Improved Explosive Devices) placed in the border areas by Myanmar.

Chief of Army Staff will visit a number of military and civilian establishments including Myanmar’s National Defense College, Command and Staff College, Military Museum. After the visit, the army chief will return home on December 11.
