Seven injured in gas cylinder explosion

CHATTOGRAM: Seven workers were injured in an explosion of gas cylinder at a marine workshop in the city’s Saltgola Crossing area on Thursday night.

The injured were identified as Osman Gani, 35, Nur Alam, 35, Enayet, 30, Rajib Das, 35, Noman, 25, Rifat, 24, and Rakib, 18.

Sources said the workers were working at outside of ‘Western Workshop’ in Saltgola Crossing area around 11:00pm. Suddenly, a gas cylinder exploded there.

The accident left the seven workers injured and three of them critically. They were rushed to Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

Of them, three were undergoing treatment there while one was released after primary treatment, said the Burn unit Head Dr Rafiq Uddin Ahmed.  Rest three who sustained severe injuries were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment, he added.
