Quartz to invest $12m at Summit Technopolis
Summit Technopolis Managing Director Abu Reza Khan and Quartz Manufacturing Managing Director Zahed Azam sign a ready-space allotment agreement for setting-up IP phone, biometric devices, security system hardware, solar panel manufacturing plant at ICT Tower at Agargaon in the capital on Thursday. State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak was present on the occasion.

Quartz Manufacturing signed a ready-space of about 20,000 square feet rental allotment agreement with Summit Technopolis to assemble and manufacture IP phone, biometric devices, security system hardware, solar panel and IP-PBX  in the Hi-Tech Factory Building in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City at Kaliakoir in Gazipur.

Under the agreement, Summit Technopolis, a subsidiary of Summit Group, will provide related infrastructural support to Quartz Manufacturing for an outlay of about US$ 5 million investment initially to be raised up to US$ 12 million in phases.

The plant is likely to commence operation by early 2020. Quartz initially plan to export the hi-tech product in India, Maldives, Sri-Lanka, Bhutan and Nepal and thereafter to North America and Africa.

The agreement signing was witnessed by the State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP, Senior Secretary of ICT Division N M Zeaul Alam, Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Hosne Ara Begum, Director of Summit Group Fadiah Khan along with other senior officials.

Summit Technopolis Limited, a Public Private Partnership (PPP), is the concessionaire for developing infrastructure for hi-tech industry comprising of Information Technology (IT), Information Technology Enabled Services (ITeS), bio-tech, non-polluting manufacturing assembly lines and precision engineering companies, in the 91 acres area in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City, Kaliakoir, Gazipur.
