Mujib Year to be calendar of nat’l integrity

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury on Wednesday said MujibYear will be the calendar of national integrity to lead the country into prosperity and development.   

Bangladesh will celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as Mujib Barsha or Mujib Year through yearlong programmes which will begin on March 17 next year, the birthday of Bangabandhu.

He also mentioned that the objective of MujibYear is bringing positive changes in the political arena  The state minister made the remarks while members of a newly elected executive committee of Shipping and Communication Reporters’ Forum (SCRF) called on him at Secretariat in the capital.

The SCRF delegation led by its President Ashish Kumar Dey, former President Anisur Rahman Khan and General Secretary Mohosinul Karim met the state minister. Earlier, Khalid Mahmud welcomed the new SCRF leaders with a wreath at his office.

Regarding his ministry issues, the state minister said the government is sincere to develop the shipping sector. To ensure it, the ministry has taken several steps, including eviction of the illegal encroachers from the river banks.  “The people of the country have been giving supports to the initiative. The people want to see the rivers lively round the year. After eviction of the encroachers and recovering the lands from grabbers, the authorities concerned is working to bring those to its actual position. To ensure it, support from all communities, including the journalists, is needed,” he added.
