The High Court on Tuesday upheld the verdict of lower court that sentenced BNP leader Mir Mohammad Nasiruddin to 13 years in jail and his son Mir Mohammad Helaluddin to three years’ imprisonment in a graft case.

The HC bench of Justice AKM Abdul Hakim and Justice Fatema Najib pronounced the verdict after concluding hearing on the appeals filed by Nasiruddin and Helaluddin challenging the lower court verdict on them.

The bench also ordered Nasir and Helal to surrender before a trial court within three months after the trial court will receive the certified copy of the verdict in the case.

Advocate Md Asaduzzaman appeared for defendants while Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan argued for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
