Police arrested three ‘newsmen’ who are allegedly complicit in circulating unfounded news through an online TV channel against lawmaker Abdullah Al Islam Jakob, also the chairman of parliamentary standing committee on youth and sports.

The trio, Muntasir Billah, Shajib and Shawon, were nabbed from a house of Shyamoli area in the capital after the lawmaker filed a case under ICT Act (number: 27/506). They are the staff of unregistered channel ‘JagoTV’.

On Saturday, the three allegedly spread untrue information under the title ‘MP Jacob earns 40 billion in 11 years’.

Terming the news item ‘concocted and politically-motivated’, MP Jacob said the unregistered TV channel is doing so to damage the reputation of the government.
