Ocean Dance Festival to begin in Cox’s Bazar on November 22

An international dance festival titled ‘Ocean Dance Festival’ will be held in Cox’s Bazar this year. More than 200 dance artistes, teachers, researchers and choreographers from 15 Asian countries will participate at the festival, organised by World Dance Alliance–Asia Pacific’s (WDA-AP) Bangladesh chapter Nrityajog. 

The festival will be held by the Mermaid beach from November 22 to 25.The four-day long dance extravaganza comprising of seminars, workshops and live performances.

Talking about the festival, principal curator of the event Lubna Marium said, “This dance festival aspires to work as a platform to introduce various Bangladeshi dance genres to the world. We hope, we will present a world class event to the nation.” 

Eminent dancer Shibli Mohammad said, “I am very proud of this type of big festival is happening in our country. We can represent our country through this event.” 

The theme of the festival is ‘Durotter Setubandhan’. International artistes will show their performances everyday from 05.00pm while seminars, workshops and speech will begin at the morning. 

Mattra and Channel i are the media partners of the festival in cooperation with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry and the Tourism Board. The Drama and Theatrical Department of the University of Chittagong is an academic associate of the event.    

World Dance Alliance (WDA) serves as a primary voice for dance and dancers throughout the world, and encourages the exchange of ideas and the awareness of dance in all forms. WDA operates via three regional centres with   an overarching global executive bringing the three together in matters of policy and global projects.
