NSTU expels 16 students

NOAKHALI: The authorities of Noakhali Science and Technology University have punished 37 students to various terms. Of these, 16 students suspended for 6 months and the rests have been fined financially, following a clash between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on the campus.

The BCL men were suspended over a factional clash at Abdus Salam Hall of the university on 31 August and 1st September.

University register Professor Mohammad Mominul Haque confirmed the matter on Monday.

The suspended students are Robiul Haque Chowdhury (Agriculture), Md Jahirul Islam (BBA), Md Abdur Rahim Siam (Agriculture), Jahid Hasan Shuvo (ESDM), Kazi Ashraful Haque Lisan (ESDM), Yeasin Arafat Tareque (ESDM), Md Shafiur Rahman Antar (BGE), Md Saifullah Soni (CSTE), Arnab Sarkar (Social work), Md Tawhidul Islam (Agriculture), Md Al Imran (ICE), Abdullah Al Masud (Applied Math), Omar Faruk (Agriculture), Md Miraz Mahdab (English), Abdullah Al Noman (Economic) and KSM Siam (Microbiology).

Campus sources said two factions of BCL-one led by Shafiqul Islam Robin and another by Sakib Mosharraf Dhrubo.
