Lawmaker Badal laid to eternal rest

CHATTOGRAM: Veteran politician and lawmaker from Chattogram-8 constituency Moinuddin Khan Badal was laid to eternal rest at Boalkhali upazila in the district on Saturday night.

His body reached the port city in the evening and his second namaz-e-janaza was held at Jamiatul Falah National Mosque.

Awami League Presidium Member Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Jabed, Whip Shamsul Hoque Chowdhury, lawmakers ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, Abu Reza Mohammad Nizamuddin Nadvi, Mahfuzur Rahman Mita, district Council Chairman MA Salam, former CDA Chairman Abdus Salam, Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Md Abdul Mannan, CMP Commissioner Md Mahabubor Rahman and Deputy Commissioner Md Elius Hossain attended the janaza among others.

Leaders and activists of different political and socio-cultural organisations placed floral wreath on his coffin there. Then, his body was taken to Ghumdandi Sirajul Islam Degree College field under the Boalkhali upazila and third janaza was held there after Isha prayer.

His fourth janaza was held before burying him beside the grave of his mother at their family graveyard at the village Sarwatali under the upazila.

Mentionable, the 67-year-old lawmaker was a Freedom Fighter and Executive President of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) till death.
