Awami League (AL) general secretary Obaidul Quader on Saturday said that their party is all set to face the cyclonic storm ‘Bulbul’.

“The government is fully geared up to face it on the instruction of Prime Minister and Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina. Even control centres have been opened in the coastal districts,” he said.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said this while addressing an emergency press conference on preparation for the cyclone at Awami League President Sheikh Hasina’s political office in the capital’s Dhanmondi area.

The minister said that Awami League and its associate bodies have been asked to work along with the government.

Quader said monitoring teams have been formed to work in the aftermath of the natural disaster.

“Relief and disaster affairs secretary and leaders of the sub-committee will coordinate with the grassroots leaders during and after the cyclone,” he said.

Among others, AL leaders Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, BM Mozammel Huq, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Abdus Sabur, Delwar Hossain and Biplab Barua were present at the press conference.
