Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni assured the protesters that the Jahangirnagar University (JU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Farzana Islam would be removed if the allegations brought against her were found true.

Quoting the minister’s assurance, the agitating teachers told this at a press conference held at the 'VC Removal Mancha' at around 2.00pm on Monday on the campus.

On Sunday night, a meeting between the representatives of the agitators and the education minister was held at the residence of education minister in the capital.

Expressing satisfaction over the meeting, the coordinator of the anti-VC movement platform Professor Rayhan Rhyne said, 'the minister assured us if the allegation over corruption against JU VC Professor Farzana Islam is proved, she will be removed'.

Besides, he also vowed to continue the ongoing blockade programmee on the campus despite the education minister urged to halt the protest.

Meanwhile, agitators under the banner of ’Jahangirnagar against Corruption’ continued their strike on the university campus pushing it to a total of halt for the eleventh consecutive days to press their demand.
