Razzak’s dream run continues

Khulna Division are in pole position against Rangpur after the second day of round four of National Cricket League (NCL) as Abdur Razzak claimed another 3 wickets in the second innings after bagging 7 wickets in the first innings while Mehedi Hasan of Khulna Division struck a century before Razzak making it 10 wickets so far in the match on Sunday.

Rangpur Division, who are leading by just 58 runs over Khulna, may find themselves in a tough position to get back into the game as they have just 6 wickets remaining in hand with two more days to go at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Khulna right-arm batsman Mehedi struck 119 runs off 150 balls to help his side surpass the 224-run first innings total of Rangpur.

Mehedi smashed 15 fours and a six during his stay at the crease, coming in at down the order. Apart from Mehedi, Rubel Hossain scored 36 runs and remained unbeaten before Khulna lost all their wickets, leading by just nine runs.

Rabiul claimed 5 wickets for Rangpur to avoid the threat of being kicked out of the match.  Rabiul bowled 18 overs to claim the five-wicket haul allowing 41 runs.

Meanwhile, Dhaka Division fought back well and are heading a for a big first innings total against Rajshahi Division with two unbeaten 90 plus innings from Taibur Rahman and Shuvagata Hom who will be starting the third day of round four with a 54-run lead with 6 wickets in hand at Sheikh Kamal International Stadium academy ground in Cox’s Bazar.

Taibur, who was unbeaten at 93 runs, struck 8 fours and a six from 164 deliveries while Shuvagata took 169 balls to score 92 runs hitting 7 boundaries and a six.

Rangpur Division left-arm spinner Sunzamul Islam took 3 wickets for 106 runs in 33 overs.

At Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram Division are in risk of suffer an innings defeat as the home side are still trailing 254 runs with 7 wickets remaining in their second innings after their first innings ended abruptly at 91 runs against Dhaka Metropolis on day two.

Metro’s 403 runs in the first innings seemed to be enough, as the Metro pacer Taskin Ahmed and spinner MD Sharifullah made the chase difficult for Chattogram, who scored 96 runs in the second innings losing 3 wickets.

Taskin claimed 3 wickets in the first innings from 8 overs while Sharifullah bagged 4 wickets bowling 15 overs and giving 30 runs away.

Both Taskin and Sharifullah took one wicket each in the second innings.

Pinak Ghosh remained unbeaten at 55 runs for Chattogram at stumps on second day.

Meanwhile, Sylhet put 322 runs on the board against Barishal Division with Shanaj Ahmed’s 73 runs off 182 balls and Zakir Hossain’s 53 runs from 90 deliveries at Sheikh Kamal International Stadium.

Monir Hossain took 3 wickets for Barishal. Barishal are still trailing by 148 runs with 9 wickets remaining before starting the day three. Barishal scored 162 runs in the first innings.
