Bashundhara Kings will face Terengganu Football Club of Malaysia in their bid to claim a spot in the semi-final in their last group-stage match of Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup Football tournament at MA Aziz Stadium in the Chattogram today.

The match will commence at 07:00pm (BST). Channel 9 will telecast the match live while the online streaming services will provided by Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup Football tournament Facebook page.

A win in the match will confirm Bashundhara Kings’ spot in the semi-final of the encounter and lay an end to all the equations as all three sides of the group-B namely Bashundhara Kings, Gokulam Kerela FC and Terengganu FC still have the chance to quality for the knockouts. Bashundhara Kings are at the third spot in their group courtesy of their thumping 3-2 win over Chennai City FC in their previous match. Terengganu are at the top of the table courtesy of their goal-difference with Gokulam Kerala FC who are at the second spot with the same four points. Chennai City FC were thrown out of the race for the semi-finals after having lost two matches.

Now the equation for Bashundhara Kings advancement depends of the group-stage match between Gokulam Kerala and Chennai City FC which will be held on 04:00pm today. But Bashundhara Kings forward Robiul Hasan did not want to enter the maze of equations rather secure their semi-final spot by winning against Terenganu which will guarantee their progression into the semi-finals while identifying the reasons behind their fail in the first match.

“We will enter the pitch with the sole objective of winning. We don’t have any other plans. There are some people around who think about individual points in situations like this but we are planning to take the match home. We have to win,” said Robiul.

“The formation will undoubtedly be an attacking one. Our Head Coach Oscar Bruzon always likes to play attacking football. Both the teams play attacking football, but the difference is that we have very high quality footballers. In the first match we faced some difficulties due to a completely new team combination,” added Robiul.

Bashundhara Kings have brought in a lot of national booters in the ongoing season. Robiul being one of them, felt that Oscar is intent on trying out all the players of his camp and wanted the fresh recruits to observe and understand Kings’ philosophy of football.

“In the previous match, Coach didn’t get the expected results from the first-eleven. More importantly all of the players in our squad are quality booters and all of the players deserve the opportunity to prove their worth. That’s why coach is trying out all the players,” told Robiul.

“Oscar wanted us, the new recruits, to understand the style of football which he preaches. That’s why he wanted to make sure that we observe how Bashundhara Kings plays football and our footballing philosophy in the first two matches,” said Robiul.

Bashundhara Kings assistant coach Mahbubul Hossain Roxy will have to guide the side in their crucial match as Kings’ Head Coach Oscar Bruzon has been barred from the dugout for the match as he was handed a red card by the referee in the previous match. Roxy wanted to plan according to the situation and opponent while being hopeful of playing according to their potential.

“Now the equation is such that we will have to win to gain semi-final berth as they (Terengganu and Gokulam) are situated ahead of us with a difference of one point. We will plan our strategy according to our opponents’ plans,” concluded Roxy.
