Non-MPO teachers start indefinite hunger strike

Teachers and employees of non-MPO educational institutions on Monday started a hunger strike for an indefinite period demanding a specific time to hold a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to place their demands.

Several hundred teachers and employees of non-government schools, colleges under the banner of “Non-MPO Shikkha Pratishtan Shikkhak Karmachari Federation” started the hunger strike in front of the National Press Club at 10:00 am on the day.

The federation president Golam Mahmudun Nabi said “We forced to go on hunger strike as no fruitful discussion was held during the meeting with education minister on Sunday night over the MPO.”

 “Our hunger strike will continue until get a specific date to meet with Prime Minister over the MPO issue,” he said.
