Red lentil is a protein-packed staple food, commonly known as masoor dal in Bangladesh. However, it is also used for skin care as a mask because of its active role in brightening the skin, eradicating dead skin cells, and treating acne and blackheads as well. Here are some red lentil mask recipes that you can include in your skin care routine:
Take 4 tablespoons of red lentils and soak it in a cup of warm water for overnight. Strain the water in the morning and grind the lentils to make a smooth grainy paste. Gently spread this paste all over your face and neck region. Leave the paste to rest and dry out for 15-20 minutes. Wash off the dried paste with some lukewarm water. Repeat this process every day to get a blemish-free skin. Regular use of this paste will clear the skin of any impurities and also treat the blemishes.
Take three tablespoons of red lentils and grind it to make smooth powder. Add a teaspoon of raw milk and almond oil in the lentil powder and mix them well to make a thick paste. Apply the paste on your face for twenty minutes until it settles and dries out completely. You can use this paste two to three times a week to get a brighter looking skin. The mask works like an exfoliating paste as it scrubs off the dead skin cells, clogged dirt and dust and also other impurities from the pores of your skin which lightens the skin complexion and gives it a natural glow.
Face mask for treating acne
Acne builds up when oil gets trapped in the skin pores after the sebaceous glands secrete too much sebum oil and it isn’t cleared properly from the skin. Grind two tablespoon of dried red lentils and add a tablespoon of gram flour and a teaspoon of turmeric in the powder and combine them together. Mix a tablespoon of yogurt and then mix all the ingredients together to make a thick and smooth paste. Massage your face and acne-affected areas with this paste for 5-7 minutes. Rinse off the paste with cold water and then pat the skin dry. Repeat this process twice a week if you have acne or once a week to prevent acne.
Face mask suitable for all skin types
