Abrar Murder Case: Another accused put on remand

A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed another accused of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Abrar Fahad murder case on a five-day remand.

Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan passed the order after Inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of police Md Wahiduzzaman, also the Investigation Officer of the case, produced the accused ASM Nazmus Sadat before the court seeking a ten-day remand. 

DB police arrested Nazmus Sadat, a batch-17 student of mechanical engineering department of the university, from Dinajpur early Tuesday while he was trying to flee to neighbouring India. With this, twenty people have been arrested in connection with the murder.

Abrar, a second-year student of BUET’s electrical and electronic engineering department, was beaten to death by a group of BCL men at the university’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall early October 7.

Later, his father filed a murder case against 19 BUET students, mostly BCL leaders of the university unit and several other unnamed accused with Chawkbazar police station in the capital.
