SU accords farewell to civil engineering

students

Southern University (SU) accorded farewell to the graduated students of Civil Engineering department through a ceremony at Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) Chattogram centre in the city on Friday.

The university Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Nurul Mostafa was the chief guest at the programme chaired by Pro VC and Head of the department Professor Engineer M Ali Ashraf.

Chief guest VC Professor Nurul in his speech said that university is the place where education and research works are practised and SU always emphasises on research work for creation of knowledge.  “Articles of SU teachers and students were publishing in different national and international journals and we utilised it in various purposes,” he said.

The university regularly organises international conferences and other programmes to create scope for acquiring knowledge by the student, said the VC.  The university founder Professor Sarwar Jahan, Civil Engineering department Adviser Professor Engineer Mozammel Hoque, deans, advisers of different faculties, university registrar, teachers and students addressed the programme among others.

The participants also expressed condolence at the premature demise of the department student Mahadi Hasan and offered monajat for him. A magazine ‘Anchor-2019’ published by Civil Engineering department was also unveiled at the programme. A cultural performance followed the discussion session.
