Schoolchildren vow to wash hands

The Global Handwashing Day-2019 was observed across the country on Tuesday as elsewhere in the world with the slogan ‘Clean Hands for All’.

To mark the day, Manabik Shahajya Sangstha (MSS) in association with Save the Children has arranged a seminar on Rayerbazar Boishakhi playground in the capital under its Shishuder Jonno-Integrated Child Development Programme (ICDP), says a press release.

Kawsar Sabina, deputy director (planning and development) of the Directorate of Primary Education, attended the programme as a guest with MSS executive director Munawar Reza Khan in the chair.

Deepa Khondker, a cultural personality, Dr Muhammad Mujibur Rahman, consultant of Communicable Disease Control (CDC), Swapna Reza, assistant director (advocacy and communication) of MSS, Kazi Asadur Rahman, senior manager (health and nutrition) of Save the Children, among others, were also present.

Meanwhile, WaterAid (WAB) and Eco-Social Development Organisation (ESDO) have organised campaigns at Kalshi Islamia High School, Pallabi Majedul Islam Model High School, Alhaj Abbas Uddin High School, Bauniabad and Kalyanpur Purabasti to make the day.
