Two cases filed against DNCC councillor Mizan

Two cases were filed against detained DNCC Councillor Habibur Rahman Mizan, also known as ‘Pagla Mizan,’ in Dhaka and Sreemangal on Saturday.

Warrant Officer of RAB-2 Shazid Mia filed a case with Mohammadpur Police Station under the Money Laundering Prevention Act. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been assigned to investigate the case.

Senior Warrant Officer of RAB-9 Abdul Jabbar lodged another case against Mizan with Sreemangal Police Station in Moulvibazar under Arms Act.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) held Mizan, councillor of ward no. 32 under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), from Sreemangal on Friday morning while he was trying to flee to India.

RAB also recovered a pistol, four rounds of bullet and Tk two lakh in cash from his possession.

Later, the elite force raided his house and office in Mohammadpur and seized bank cheques of Tk 6.77 crore and FDR of Tk one crore from his house on Aaurangzeb Road.

Councillor Mizan has allegedly been involved in extortion, land grabbing, drug dealing, murder and some other crimes.
