Ex-prisoner given sewing machine to start new life

GAIBANDHA: A convicted prisoner who suffered life term imprisonment in a murder case got a sewing machine from the Department of Social Services (DSS) here on Thursday, reports BSS.

A function on sewing machine distribution was held at the inside of the district jail with deputy jailor Aminur Rahman in the chair.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) and also district magistrate Abdul Matin gave the machine to Saiful Islam who was released from the jail on Thursday after he had suffered life term imprisonment.

Speaking at the function, DC Abdul Matin asked Saiful Islam who hailed from Sundarganj to earn money through utilizing the sewing machine and lead his livelihood normally avoiding any anti law and state activities.

Civil surgeon Dr. ABM Abu Hanif, executive engineer of Public Works Department Morshed Hossain, deputy director of DSS Emdadul Haque were present on the occasion.
