A three-day conference titled ‘Dhaka University (DU) National Model United Nations (DUNMUN)-2019’ will begin on DU campus today.
DUMUNA Club is organising the event while the daily sun is the media partner.With the theme "Reducing global inequalities by bolstering trade development", DUNMUN-2019 will be hosting 11 committees: United Nations Security Council (UNSC), World Trade Organisation (WTO), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), Special Political and Decolonization Committee (SPECPOL), International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL), Economic and Financial Committee (ECOFIN), Specialized Committee for Bangladesh Affairs (SCBA) and International Press (IP).
About 500 students will confront each other debating issues of the international political agenda, with the participation of exceptional guests. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman will be present as the chief guest while UNIDO representative of Bangladesh Zaki Uz Zaman will be the special guest on the opening ceremony. The conference will end on October 14.
