BNS Somudra Avijan returns home from India, Sri Lanka

Bangladesh Navy Ship (BNS) Somudra Avijan returned to Bangladesh on Thursday after completing the training tour to Sri Lanka and India.

A programme was held on the occasion at Chittagong Naval jetty.

Commander BN Fleet Rear Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hasan was present as the chief guest and received BNS Somudra Avijan.

Family members of sailors and officials of the ship were also present at the programme.

As part of the trip, the ship stayed at Colombo Port of Sri Lanka from September 7 to September 10 and at Visakhapatnam, India from September 14 to September 17.

During the stay in Sri Lanka and India, M Zahirul Islam, commander of the BNS Somudra Avijan, paid a courtesy call on high-ranking military officials of the two countries.

Besides, the naval officers of the two countries also visited the BNS Somudra Avijan.

Through participating in the training tour, it is expected that the existing friendly relations between the two countries will strengthen further by improving the professional standards of the Bangladesh Navy officers, cadets and sailors.

It may be mentioned that the ship left the Chittagong Naval Jetty on September 1 for the training tour.
