Generally, the end of April is the peak blooming time of this flower. This period is also called the Golden Week, from April 21 and May 6. How to reach the tunnel?
Reaching the Wisteria Tunnel is no-hassle as the city of Kitakyushu is well-connected to the rest of Japan via various modes of transportation. The nearest train station to the tunnel is JR Yahata, take a bus from outside the station and get off at the Kawachi Elementary School. From there, the Wisteria Tunnel is only a 10-15 minutes’ walk. Guests can take high-speed trains from Tokyo, from where it takes just 5 hours to reach Kitakyushu.
Things to remember
If you are planning a trip to Japan to witness the beauty of this tunnel, make sure that you plan it in April and May, which is the blooming period of flowers. Entry is allowed only by obtaining a pre-paid ticket in advance. Then, guests are also required to pay an additional 500 JPY to 1000 JPY (Japanese Yen) at the entrance of the tunnel. Also, during the peak blooming season, the price keeps changing every day, depending on the flower blooming condition.
