DNCC Anti-mosquito Drive

Building owners fined Tk 2,70,000

Several building owners were fined Tk 2,70,000 in the second day of the second phase of anti-mosquito combing drive conducted by Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).              

The DNCC has been conducting the combing drive to search Aedes mosquito larvae and breeding grounds in residences and establishments under its 36 wards.                        

The city corporation teams inspected around 10,713 residences and establishments on the day.

They found mosquito larvae in 26 residences and establishments and put up cautionary stickers.        

The teams also found favorable environment for mosquito breeding in at least 5221 residences and establishments and destroyed it.     

Ward councilors of 36 wards supervised the drive in their respective ward.  

Executive magistrate Julkar Nayon led a drive in Uttara area and fined owner of an under construction building Tk  30,000 under local government act, 2009 as the magistrate found mosquito larvae  in the building.

A business house named ‘Hungry Duck’ was fined Tk 10,000 as mosquito larvae were found on its rooftop.

A DNCC mobile court led by executive magistrate Mir Nahid Ahsan fined ‘Confidence Tower’ in Shahjadpur Tk 10,000 as mosquito larvae were found there.     

DNCC magistrate Sajid Anwar also conducted a mobile court in Banani and fined ‘Asset Development’ ‘Amin Mohammad Foundation Ltd’ ‘Signature Developer’ Tk 2, 00,000.

A business firm named ‘Car Speed’ was fined Tk 20,000 for conducting business occupying road and footpath.
