Bangladesh Telecommuni-cation Regulatory Commis-sion (BTRC) has suspended 3G and 4G services at Rohingya camps in Teknaf and Ukhiya areas under Cox’s Bazar district for an indefinite period. The regulator on Tuesday took the decision, which came into effect from Wednesday.

BTRC Senior Assistant Director Zakir Hossain said cell operators were earlier directed to suspend 3G and 4G services between 5:00pm and 6:00am every day in Cox’s Bazar Rohingya camps. According to sources, a high-powered BTRC team will visit Rohingya camps on Friday to find out the culprits who are responsible for violating the directive. Bangladesh is currently hosting more than a million Rohingyas in Cox’s Bazar camps.
