A Dhaka court on Monday granted bail to eight top BNP leaders, including Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in a case filed on charges of preventing police from discharging their duties and inciting subversive activities.

The seven others are Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Mirza Abbas, Nazrul Islam Khan, Ruhul Kuddus Talukder Dulu, Abdul Moyeen Khan and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury.

Metropolitan Magistrate Sharafuzzaman Ansary granted the bail on a bond of Tk 5,000 to each when the BNP leaders surrendered before the court seeking bail in the case.

Court sources said the court granted their bail prayers on grounds that they will have to appear before the court on every scheduled date.
