A photograph on fault of ship captured by the Mercantile Marine Department Part-time Surveyor and National Maritime Institute Principal Captain Faisal Azim was nominated as the best picture for 2018.
The 22nd conference of the committee on ‘Indian Ocean Memorandum Of Understanding On Port State Control’ concluded at Cape Town in South Africa last week.Representatives of twenty countries including Australia, India, Sudan, South Africa, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Iran, Kenya, Maldives, Oman, Yemen, France, Mozambique, Myanmar, Madagascar and Bangladesh attended the t conference. Annual ship inspection reports of the countries were submitted at the conference.
The still pictures on faults of ships found after inspection were displayed at the programme and the photo of Captain Faisal was adjudged as the best picture for 2018. Bangladesh achieved the honour for the first time from the organisation since its establishment in 1999, said sources.
